Nora Ring returned from Galveston. • John L. Tierney wrote the S.A.C. Notes for the Vicksburg Evening Post. • Local deaths included Mrs. Ollie Weber and Mrs. Louise Brazier.

The Warren County Stamp Club opened an exhibit. • Alice Harlen returned to her home in New Mexico. • Mrs. G.C. Sanderson of Ennis, Texas, was in Vicksburg visiting relatives.
80 Years Ago: 1944
Mrs. Marty Lena Johnson died. • Ben Ward, boys work secretary at the YMCA, resigned to accept a position in Tupelo. • Mrs. John Marak, a Lake Providence resident, was a patient at Mercy Hospital.
70 Years Ago: 1954
Mr. and Mrs. William Bache announced the birth of their son, Kenneth. • Louise Boggs was installed as president of the Wesleyan Service Guild of Crawford Street Methodist Church. • Services were held for Mildred Gordy. • Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paine, of Yokena, announced the birth of their son, Thomas.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hinds Jr. announced the birth of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth. • Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Bullard announced the birth of their son, Archiland. • Mrs. Everett Wright was a patient at Mercy Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Griffin Peyton announced the birth of their daughter, Melissa Kathleen. • Gregory Reynolds celebrated his first birthday. • The Jett High School senior class of 1954 had a reunion.

The members of New Mount Elem Church celebrated the church’s 104th anniversary. • Attorney General Mike Moore spoke at the Porter’s Chapel Academy graduation.

Another plan to rescue Beulah Cemetery was in the works, this time being aided by the Legislature and allowing public money to be spent in the private cemetery.
10 Years Ago: 2014
An independent film was shot at 61 Coffee in downtown Vicksburg. • A rollover accident on I-20 injured six people. • Vicksburg High School student Will Robbins accepted an offer to play soccer for Millsaps College.
