A shooting Thursday night just outside the Vicksburg city limits left one man hospitalized and local law enforcement on the hunt for the shooter, according to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
“Just before 9 p.m. we received multiple calls of shots fired here at the intersection of Gibson Road and Halls Ferry Road,” Pace told The Post early Friday morning. “When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle and there were indications that it was involved. There was some damage to it that appeared to be from gunfire, but there was no victim on the scene.”
Pace said only moments later, the sheriff’s office received a call from River Region Medical Center reporting an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds had been transported to the emergency room by a private vehicle.
“That individual was transported to the University Medical Center (in Jackson),” Pace said. “At this time we are continuing to work the case. We can’t release any other information at this time, but as it becomes available, I’ll be glad to release it.”
Pace said anyone with any information relating to Thursday’s shooting is asked to call Vicksburg-Warren County 911 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
