Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) has made two arrests in connection with the shooting that took the life of a Vicksburg man last month on Locust Street.

VPD said 58-year-old Bernard Brown was taken into custody Thursday for the Tuesday, May 28, shooting death of 45-year-old Shandrick “Black” Montgomery. Sampson Sugar Bunch, 32, has also been arrested. Bunch was charged with accessory after the fact in relation to the shooting.

VPD officials said officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Locust Street just after 11 p.m. for a reported shooting, where they found Montgomery “in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest.” Warren County Coroner Doug Husky pronounced Montgomery dead at the scene.
