Rebecca Scott, of Vicksburg, passed away early Thursday morning, June 20, in the hospital surrounded by family at the age of 79. Mrs. Scott was born January 27, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark. and was raised in Pine Bluff, Ark. Her parents were the late Carl and Ruby Tillman.

She married her soulmate, Roy Randolph “Randy” Scott on March 2, 1963. Mrs. Scott graduated from Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1966. Upon moving to Mississippi, she began an extended teaching career, including stints at Redwood Elementary, Rebul Academy, Jett Elementary, Cedars Elementary and Porters Chapel Academy. She was a longtime member of Utica Christian Church. She loved reading, playing games, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Walter Scott, and brother, Jim Ellis Tillman.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Randy Scott; daughters, Tracy Curtis (Leonard) and Laura Bunch (Barry); and grandchildren, Meghan McKee (Marshall), Carly Chatelain (Conner), Samuel Bunch, Zachary Shedd, Juliana Curtis, Gracie Curtis and River Curtis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, at Utica Christian Church, officiated by the Rev. Brad Hartzog.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.  The family will have a private graveside service.

Memorials may be made to Utica Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
