Vicksburg Farmers’ Market held a special version of its weekly showing at Washington Street Park Saturday morning, holding Pollinator Palooza as a grand finale to Vicksburg Pollinator Week.

A proclamation presented Monday by Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. gave the week of June 17-23 the official designation and Rebecca Sigh with the farmers’ market said Saturday’s event was an epic ending to the weeklong focus on pollinators and the vital roles they play for the environment and humans alike.

“Our Pollinator Palooza was a resounding success and a fantastic way to conclude Vicksburg Pollinator Week,” Sigh said. “It was heartening to see our community come together to celebrate the essential role pollinators play in our ecosystem. By supporting our local farmers and providing fresh, local produce, we are not only nurturing our health, but also fostering a thriving environment for our vital pollinators.”
