Abigail Morgan is on the move.
The former Warren Central softball standout announced in May that she was entering the NCAA transfer portal, and on Friday Southern Miss announced she had signed with its program.
Morgan, a pitcher, spent her freshman season at Memphis. She appeared in 29 games, starting nine, and went 0-8 with a 6.71 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings. She pitched two complete games.
Memphis finished with a 6-44 record in 2024. It had losing streaks of 13 and 12 games during the season.
Morgan will have three years of eligibility remaining at Southern Miss.
“I would like to thank my teammates as well as coaches at Memphis for the experience and memories,” Morgan wrote on Twitter when she entered the portal.
In high school at Warren Central, Morgan was a two-time Vicksburg Post Warren County Player of the Year in 2021 and 2023. In three varsity seasons she had a 24-16 record, with a 2.81 ERA and 293 strikeouts in 277 innings pitched.
Morgan also batted .385 during her high school career. She was 0-for-2 in limited at-bats for Memphis in 2024.
