100 Years Ago: 1924

Mrs. T.P. Beasley and her children were in Huntington, Tenn. visiting relatives. • Theresa Murphy returned from a visit to Mrs. Willie Adan in Valley Park. • Congressman J.W. Collier was a guest of honor at the Kiwanis Club meeting.

90 Years Ago: 1934

Delta Ice and Storage Company acquired the local Schlitz beer agency. • Robert Purser and Ethel Ryan were married. • Jeanie Louise Calhoun left for Allegheny Springs, Va.

80 Years Ago: 1944

Mrs. George Sudduth left to spend the summer in Hendersonville, N.C. • Mrs. Hugh Johnston was named chairman of the United China Relief program of information for Vicksburg and Warren County. • Services were held for Newman Loewenberg.

70 Years Ago: 1954

Harry Hardin was installed as president of the Vicksburg Lions Club. • Katie Jackson passed away. • Dr. and Mrs. Norman Stout were visiting in New York City.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Little announced the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth. • Mr. and Mrs. Albert Noble and their sons were visiting New Orleans. • Hiram Zadek died.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Dr. Paul Ballard, dentist, was installed as president of the Vicksburg Rotary Club. • PFC Mark Robinson arrived at Fort Bliss and began desert and mountain training. • W.W. Geddings Jr., chief of the special projects branch of WES, retired after 39 years.

40 Years Ago: 1984

Florence L. Young died. • Brad Anthony Pettway celebrated his first birthday. • Cub Scouts Jason Rogers, Doug Cooper and Rob Cole helped promote the Three Rivers Cub Scout Day Camp. • Pvt. Dale Friley completed basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. and came home to visit before going for a tour of duty in Seoul, South Korea.

30 Years Ago: 1994

Willie “Bill” Taylor died. • Shelbi MacAnn Conerly celebrated her first birthday.

20 Years Ago: 2004

About 3,700 Entergy customers were without power after a storm.

10 Years Ago: 2014

Two from ERDC won antiterrorism honors. • Tallulah-based ban Silo toured the South. • Local aldermen worked to get the job done.
