VPD investigating Friday night shooting

Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is investigating a shooting that took place Friday night following an event at the City Pavilion.

VPD Investigator Jerrold Hayes said the shooting took place sometime after 9 p.m. at the pavilion, located at 100 Army Navy Drive. Hayes said VPD has received reports of multiple people sustaining gunshot wounds, as well as multiple vehicles that have been fired into.

Hayes said several spent shell casings were recovered from the scene and the investigation remained in its preliminary stages as of 11:45 p.m. Friday.
