MHP releases numbers from Independence Day holiday travel period; reports 4 deaths

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) concluded the 2024 Independence Day Holiday Travel Period Sunday, July 7, at midnight.

The enforcement period began on Thursday, July 4, at 6 a.m.

MPH officials said it investigated 141 crashes resulting in 45 injuries and four deaths.

Additionally, MHP issued a total of 6,474 citations, made 149 arrests for impaired driving, and cited 876 motorists for occupant restraint violations.
