Joseph O. Crist

Joseph O. Crist passed away Tuesday, July 9. He was 84 years old.
He was born in Vicksburg October 20, 1939, to Orval Harry Crist and Hazel Sanders Crist.
Joe was an avid hunter. He served as deacon, choir member and Sunday School director for many years at Calvary Baptist Church.
Joe served as a PFC in the U.S. Army. He was fun-loving and loved his wife Peggy, children, grandchildren, church family and friends.
He was always a very hardworking man, providing for his family. Joe played guitar in his band The Drifters for many years.
He also created a private sanitation business, Crist Sanitation Service, (years before Waste Management) serving northern Warren County for 18 years while working with Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he retired after 40 years. He enjoyed 25 years of blissful retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sharon Leonard and Debra Cape; brother, John Crist; grandson, Justin Kirkley.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Simpson Crist; son, Larry Dale Crist (Judy); daughter, Terri Lynn Kirkley (Buster); brothers, James Bounds (Stacy), Mike Crist (Connie), David Crist (Tracy) and Tony Crist (Jacqi); sisters, Ginger Byrd (Billy) and Donna Hart (Bo).
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Banes and Bro. Paul Curry officiating.
Interment will be for the immediate family at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
