Vicksburg town hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday; crime, proposed government change among agenda items

The City of Vicksburg has scheduled a town hall-style meeting for next week with a range of topics listed for discussion, including proposed changes to the city’s form of government and crime.

The public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Robert M. Walker Building located at 1415 Walnut Street.

The purpose of Tuesday’s meeting Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said, is to address a number of current events and topics affecting city residents.

Topics listed on Tuesday’s agenda include: proposed changes to Vicksburg’s form of government; a recent announcement from Vicksburg’s Waffle House locations; employee pay raises; the Vicksburg Animal Shelter; housing updates; trash collection payment increases; riverfront park; the city’s 2025 budget; safety concerns; and street paving.

City officials said the meeting will also include a six-month progress update on various projects throughout Vicksburg.

“Mayor Flaggs encourages all residents to attend this town hall to voice their concerns, ask questions and contribute to the discussions that will shape the future of our city,” officials said in a statement.
