A Landstar 18-wheeler that jackknifed before losing control and catching fire on Interstate 20 just past Indiana Avenue Wednesday ended without injury.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said Vicksburg Fire Department’s Engine 2 responded to the call on the eastbound side of I-20 Wednesday afternoon and found the cab of the truck fully engulfed in flames.

“Fortunately, the driver was outside the cab and was unharmed,” Stamps said. “E-2 successfully extinguished the fire. The driver reported that he lost control of the truck just past the Indiana Avenue exit, causing it to jackknife on the right shoulder side.”
