Amelia Bazinsky left for New York. • Landman Teller left to spend a month at Sylvan Beach. • Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Turcott and their sons returned from a visit to Lake, Miss.

90 Years Ago: 1934

Miss Alberta Butts returned from Poplarville, where she visited with relatives. • Wilson Carroll purchased the Flowers Brothers Insurance Agency. • Julie McKenzie died.

80 Years Ago: 1944

Sen. Theodore Bilbo underwent surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. • Lt. Maury Yerger Jr. was visiting his parents. • Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Swayze, of Yazoo City, announced the birth of their son, Lawrence.

70 Years Ago: 1954

Services were held for Mr. William M. Cook. • Mrs. Joe Harz III and her sons were visiting Memphis. • Gov. Hugh White visited Vicksburg.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Robert Holmes, of Bovina, was named director of the Goldwater for President campaign in Warren County. • Herman Braun died. • Elizabeth Anderson was visiting relatives in St. Louis and Denver.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ray Green announced the birth of their son, Kevin Daniel. • David West, a former Warren County resident, died in Memphis. • Michael Allen Gray and Karl Gregg Johnson participated in the Cooperative Education Program at Mississippi State University.

40 Years Ago: 1984

Warren County was granted $436,150 by the Economic Development Administration; the funds were to be used by Eagle Lake farmer and developer Larry Crowe. • The youth choir of Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church presented the musical “Sing Your Praise to the Lord.” • Utica native Elizabeth Green was promoted to area supervisor by the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services.

30 Years Ago: 1994

Kristen Chapman of the Vicksburg Chemical Cannon Girls 80 Soccer Team was selected for the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Region III under 15 girls Olympic Development Program Soccer Team. 

20 Years Ago: 2004

Warren County was appealing state approval of a plan for a landfill in Yokena and a special judge was appointed to hear the case.

10 Years Ago: 2014

Th Warren County sheriff sought deputy raises. • A Vicksburg man, Michael Anthony Montgomery, was busted with one million dollars of fake LSD. • WCHS student Jack Richardson left to begin his year-long exchange learning program in Germany.
