Jeff B. Jones died. • Minnie Williams entertained the Thursday afternoon Bridge Club. • Lucy Podesta was in Vicksburg on a visit from Natchez.

James D. Thames Jr. was doing well after an operation for appendicitis. • Vivian LaHatte was attending a meeting of state recreation leaders in Jackson. • Birch Eakin, of Washington state, was in Vicksburg visiting Harry Andress.

Minnie Jerome died. • Mrs. Robert Miller, a Valley Park resident, passed away. • Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Emmich and their children were vacationing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Dr. and Mrs. W.K. Purkes and their son were in Los Angeles. • Services were held for Margaret Harris. • The Rev. H.H. Crisler conducted services at Holy Trinity Church.

Dr. and Mrs. James Allison announced the birth of their daughter, Susan Elizabeth. • Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Heigle, of Rolling Fork, announced the birth of their son, Markel Todd. • Services were held for Letitia Patterson.

Mr. and Mrs. Willie Watkins announced the birth of their son, Willie Watkins II. • Catherine Anne May and Denise Helene Meyer made the LSU Dean’s List. • Nine members of the Satartia High School Class of 1933 held their 41st class reunion.

Gail Walker Trahan, 29, was killed when a rock crashed through the windshield of her car and caused her to lose control. • Lelia J. Robinson died. • Services were held for Lucy Holly.
