Barbia Jean Reeves

Barbia Jean Reeves passed away Friday, July 26, at the age of 84.

Born in Sturgis, she was the daughter of the late B.L. and Eula Reeves. She was a resident of Vicksburg since childhood.

She was a graduate of Carr Central High School, Clark Junior College and Mississippi College before receiving her master’s degree from Mississippi State University.

She was a retired educator and was employed by The Vicksburg Post after her retirement.  She was an active member of Highland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, William “Buddy” Reeves (Frances) of Vicksburg; two nieces, Beth Rambo (Dicky) of Columbus, and Melissa Wooten (Barry) of Hattiesburg; two great-nephews, Tim Summers Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., and Alex Wooten of Greenville, S.C.; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. in Vicksburg.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.

Interment followed in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tim Floyd, Buck Burgess, Charlie Bennett, Keith Gordon, Hunter Lynch and David Pugh.
