The Vicksburg Farmers’ Market takes over Washington Street Park during Saturday mornings in the summer. But during August it will also be collecting donations to help meet a community need.

Director Rebecca Sigh said the Farmers’ Market will be collecting donations of baby wipes, cleaning supplies and other infant care items each Saturday throughout August from 8 to 11 a.m. The program, dubbed Harvesting Hope, is to benefit Good Shepherd Community Center, a community organization located in Vicksburg and specializing in aiding families.

“We’re happy to have Harvesting Hope for Good Shepherd Community Center at the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market,” Sigh said. “Your donations make a real difference in our community. By supporting their work, you’re helping to provide essential  services to local families. Please consider donating baby wipes, cleaning supplies, toddler items, paper goods and first aid kits/items at our market every Saturday in August from 8 to 11 a.m. at Washington Street Park.”

Good Shepherd Executive Director Cindy McCarley said the donations make a big difference for local families reaching out for support.

“We are so blessed to live in a generous community,” McCarley said. “Thank you for supporting and cheering Good Shepherd on as we continue to achieve our mission to educate, inspire and empower individuals, children and families to live their best lives.”
