Grace Barnett put Central Hinds (9-1) ahead for good with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning, then the Cougars blew it open with three runs in the third and two more in the fourth.

Maddie Shaw hit an RBI double and Barnett an RBI single in the third inning. Shaw finished with two hits and Barnett had three. Ollie Grace McLendon drove in two runs and Stella Havard scored two.

Ruthie Britton had two hits for St. Al, while Landy Elqady was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the second inning.

The Lady Flashes committed five errors that led to two unearned runs.

St. Al (4-3) had won three of its previous four games before hitting the speed bump on Monday. It will go on the road again on Tuesday to play Simpson Academy, and then hosts Briarfield Academy on Thursday and the Jackson Victors on Friday. All of the varsity games begin at 6:15 p.m., and the home games are at the Betty Hearn Foley Softball Complex on Bazinsky Road.

The game against Briarfield replaced one with Jackson Prep.

ACCS 13, Porter’s Chapel 0
Mia Drane had six strikeouts in a three-inning complete game, and Alli Lindsey went 1-for-2 with one RBI and three runs scored as Adams County Christian School (4-4) defeated Porter’s Chapel Academy (1-4) on Monday.

ACCS took advantage of seven walks and seven errors by PCA to take the mercy rule-shortened victory. It scored eight runs in the top of the second inning after PCA pitcher Sophie Masterson retired the first two batters. Only two of ACCS’ 13 runs were earned.

Audrey Carraway had PCA’s only hit, a single leading off the third inning.

PCA will be back in action Tuesday, when it plays a varsity doubleheader at Madison-St. Joseph beginning at 5 p.m. Its next home game at Key City Park (formerly Sports Force Parks) is Thursday at 7 p.m. vs. Wilkinson County Christian.
