Mamma’s Super Burger, located on the corner of Openwood and Main streets, is a Vicksburg staple, but even the most storied of local spots needs an upgrade every so often.

This week, Vicksburg Art Association (VAA) member Keith Matthews provided that splash of new color through upgraded signage for the restaurant. Randy Jolly with the VAA said Mamma’s Super Burger owner Thelma Gaskin, also known as Mamma, has always been a great neighbor to the nearby Old Constitution Firehouse Gallery, which is owned by the VAA and used for shows.

Jolly said Mamma Gaskin will often keep watch over the property and the VAA was glad to help upgrade the restaurant’s outdoor signs.

Matthews created the new sign, which was made in keeping with the original that has seen better days. The new signage, Jolly said, was also a way the VAA could give back to the Openwood community.
