Vicksburg Ward 1 Alderman Thomas “T.J.” Mayfield has announced the creation of the AMAZE Service Award.

Mayfield said the award, which stands for Alderman Mayfield Award for Zeal and Excellence and is named after his late father – former Ward 1 Alderman Michael Mayfield – will be given monthly to an individual or individuals who display dedication and commitment to the betterment of the City of Vicksburg.

“The Vicksburg community has a wealth of amazing people who deserve to be acknowledged for their unwavering dedication to our community,” Mayfield said. “Every month, I will be committed to finding the selfless acts of service of people in Vicksburg, no matter how small the act of service may seem. Although this award will primarily focus on young adults and youth in our community, we are dedicated to honoring all people who strive to show Vicksburg in a positive light.”
