Softball Roundup: St. Al’s comeback comes up short; PCA can’t get past River Oaks

St. Aloysius mounted a big comeback in the top of the seventh inning, but couldn’t finish it Monday against Adams County Christian School.

Madison Spencer hit a bases-clearing triple to pull the Lady Flashes within a run, but was stranded at third as ACCS held on to win 7-6.

Spencer finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one run scored for the Lady Flashes (6-6, 0-1 MAIS District 4-5A). She also had an RBI single in the third inning.

Spencer’s sister Mallory pitched six innings. She allowed two earned runs, struck out five batters and did not walk any.

Megan Theriot was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, one RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Flashes. Kennadi Blassingame also went 3-for-3 and scored twice.

Mia Drane and Sophia Carter hit solo home runs for ACCS (11-5-1, 1-0), while pitchers Madison Greene and Rileigh King combined for 12 strikeouts.

St. Al lost its third game in a row after winning three of the previous four. It will host Cathedral Tuesday and Simpson Academy Thursday at, both at 6:15 p.m. at the Betty Foley Hearn Softball Complex.

River Oaks 13, Porter’s Chapel 12
Jorden Hollis and Ainsley Doles hit back-to-back RBI singles as River Oaks scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to slip past Porter’s Chapel Academy on Monday.

Natalie Cantin and Sophie Masterson both homered for Porter’s Chapel (4-7), which lost its third game in a row. Cantin also walked twice and scored two runs.

Lauren Rae Davis was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Lady Eagles. Audrey Carraway also hit an RBI double and scored a run, Mia Abdo had two hits and Marley Bufkin walked twice and scored twice.

PCA will host Prairie View Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Key City Park (formerly Sports Force Parks).
