Carraway hit an RBI triple in the first inning and an inside-the-park grand slam in the second. The triple was part of a five-run rally and the homer made it 11-1.

The Lady Eagles added two more runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Natalie Cantin and an RBI groundout by Masterson.

Marley Bufkin was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored for PCA, and Carraway and Mia Abdo scored two runs each. Lauren Rae Davis singled, walked twice and scored three runs. Kendall Smith doubled and scored a run.

Luke and Masterson walked five batters, but did not allow a hit. Luke had five strikeouts.

PCA will play another district game Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., against Franklin Academy at Key City Park (formerly Sports Force Parks).

Copiah Academy 5, St. Aloysius 3
Audrey Albright went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Copiah Academy (10-8-2, 2-0 MAIS District 4-5A) held off a late comeback bid by St. Aloysius (6-8, 0-2).

Copiah scored three runs in the third inning — Albright hit an RBI double and scored a run — to take a 5-0 lead. St. Al did not get on the board until the sixth inning, when Ruthie Britton hit a sacrifice fly.

The Lady Flashes got two more runs in the seventh inning, on an RBI single by Megan Theriot and an RBI groundout by Kyleigh Cooper. That brought the tying run to the plate, but they were not able to get another hit.

Theriot and Cooper each had two hits and one RBI for St. Al, and Presley Brister went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Britton and Kennadi Blassingame both doubled.

St. Al lost its fifth game in a row. It’ll try to get back in the win column Thursday, when it hosts Central Hinds at 6:15 p.m. at the Betty Foley Hearn Softball Complex.
