Herrle powers Warren Central to volleyball victory vs. Vicksburg

Melissa Herrle was more like Hercules on Thursday.

The senior had 11 kills on 17 attacks, served six aces, and had nine defensive digs to lead Warren Central to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-17) volleyball victory over Vicksburg High.

Herrle also had 16 assists and one solo block.

“Some nights you just have it all together, and it was definitely Melissa’s night,” Warren Central coach Matthew Gullett said.

Ka’ryn Henderson had eight kills and six assists for the Lady Vikes (11-7-1, 3-0 MHSAA Region 2-6A). Ellie Tennison served five aces and K.K. Kelly had nine assists.

For Vicksburg, Kennedy Mullins had six digs, Jordan Grace had five, and Makynzie Dunmore and Amari Johnson had three each.

Warren Central beat Vicksburg (4-4, 1-3) for the second time this season, and 28th consecutive time since 2011.

Warren Central will play at St. Aloysius Tuesday at 6 p.m. Vicksburg is also back in action Tuesday, in a region match at Neshoba Central beginning at 6 p.m.
