Dave Winston tendered the position of caterer at the B.B. Club. • Katherine McGuire, Hazel Ryan and Loretta Garvey returned from a motor trip to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. • P.L. Hennessey told of his trip to Europe.

Mrs. Joe French was ill at her home on Harrison Street. • The Style Shop moved to its new storefront. • James W. Farrior went to Texas on a two-week vacation.

Ernest Hovious was now business secretary of the YMCA. • Jeanne Koffman left for the University of Mississippi. • Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Showman announced the birth of their son.

Mary Francis Buchanan and Lt. Russell Baker Jr. were married. • Midshipman Guy Jarratt Jr. returned to Annapolis Md. after a visit with his family. • Services were held for Walter Collins.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McMaster announced the birth of a daughter, Vicki Lynn. • Rosie Sansone passed away. • Cyril O’Neill was named chairman of the pilot division of the Warren County United Fund.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Warren announced the birth of their son, Jason Alford. • Earnest Hilderbrand was congratulated on 20 years at Westinghouse. • Maj. Gen. Charles C. Noble, president of the Mississippi River Commission, retired from the U.S. Army. • Council 9 Eagles defeated the Council 5 Cougars 13 to 12.

Daniel W. Trainor, a retired employee of the City of Vicksburg, died in Eupora. • Services were held for Ora Bowles Harmon. • James Ross loaded a huge stump into a dump truck when the City Front cleanup got underway.

Warren Central solidified its Associated Press prep football No.1 ranking with a 20-0 whitewash of Pearl at Pirate Stadium.

Vicksburg crews began the week pouring concrete for the 20 by 24-foot pavilion that was to be erected on a vacant lot in Marcus Bottom.

Aussie blues artist Luck Stabb performed at L.D.’s Restaurant and Lounge. • Brig. Gen. Michael C. Wehr took command of the Mississippi Valley Division of the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
