Josie Bell Gardner

Josie Bell Gardner, a Vicksburg resident, passed away Wednesday, August 28. She was a member of Christian Home M.B. Church #2.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank A. Gardner Sr.; her brother, Roosevelt Gardner; nephews, Kidd Stanford Sims and Tyrone Taylor; a niece, Krystal Taylor; great-grandniece, Dorian Nash; both maternal grandparents, Corniell Carson Mace Warfield and Stanford B. Mace; as well as paternal grandparents, Josie B. Wilson Gardner and Willie Gardner.

Left to cherish her passing are her son, Jonathan Gardner; grandson, Jordan Gardner; daughter-in-law, Kesha Turner; mother, Ethel Gardner; six sisters, Dora (Nathaniel) Christian of Durant, Miss., Ethel Reese, Betty Huell and Pauline Sims of Vicksburg, Robbie Moore of Clinton, and Barbara (Willie Pat) Taylor of Bolton; and two brothers, Frank (Joyce) Gardner Jr. of Vicksburg and James Gardner of Aurora, Ill. Others who will mourn her passing include a host of relatives consisting of aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins from her extended families of Gardner, Warfield, Mace, Sims, Lloyd and Jackson.

Public visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, from 1 to 6 p.m. Family hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services are to be held Sunday, September 8, at 2 p.m. in the C.J. Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street in Vicksburg. Interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
