Voting is now open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are football players DeCorey Knight Jr. (Vicksburg) and Jase Jung (Porter’s Chapel) St. Aloysius softball player Mallory Spencer; and Warren Central volleyball player Arrionna Jenkins.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Mallory Spencer, a pitcher and outfielder for St. Aloysius’ softball team, went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and had five strikeouts in four innings pitched in a 13-1 victory vs. Jackson Academy on Sept. 3.

DeCorey Knight Jr., a senior running back for Vicksburg High’s football team, rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown and had a 75-yard kickoff return TD in a 28-23 loss to Forest Hill on Sept. 6.

Jase Jung, a senior running back and defensive back for Porter’s Chapel Academy’s football team, rushed for 305 yards and four touchdowns; threw a 60-yard TD pass; and had seven tackles and an interception in a 42-6 victory over Riverdale Academy on Sept. 6.

Arrionna Jenkins, a junior with Warren Central’s volleyball team, totaled 19 kills in four matches — all victories — this week. The Lady Vikes only lost one game in beating St. Aloysius, Riverside, Pisgah and Pillow Academy.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
