City of Vicksburg awards bids for former Sports Force park, road projects

The City of Vicksburg has awarded bids for work to be done at the former Sports Force Park, as well as on several roadways.

During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen awarded bids for erosion control projects at the park, as well as to three sites on city roadways, to Fordice Construction Company and Central Asphalt Company, Inc., respectively. Both companies are located in Vicksburg.

Fordice Construction Company was the lone bidder for the erosion control project at the newly named Key City Park, with a total bid of $1,071,668.75.

Central Asphalt Company Inc. submitted the lone bid of $524,868 for work to be done at sites on Evergreen Street, Iowa Drive and Patricia Street. 

Both projects include clearing the areas, reinstallation of chain link fencing, excavation, seeding and an installation of erosion control blanket, while the road work also includes solid sodding, removal of asphalt pavement and curbs and gutters, resurfacing and installation of polyethylene pipe, as well as surveying work.

Starting dates for the projects have not yet been announced.
