No matter what kind of calendar you use, jot down these notable dates in September

I am old school and have yet to embrace the calendar option on my cell phone, even though my daughter has told me how convenient it can be. I still like having a calendar on my desk — one I can use to pencil in appointments and events. My desk calendar also serves as a spot for me to write down phone numbers, addresses or small notes about things I need to remember. Perhaps a cell phone calendar offers these amenities, but I am booked. There is just no room on my calendar for me to pencil in one more thing to learn.

And just so you know, my handy dandy desk calendar also has significant days already posted. Not family birthdays and anniversaries and such. It’s more like major holidays, the beginning and ending of daylight savings time, the first day of seasons, Grandparents Day and a couple other less notable events.

In looking over what I have already written in my calendar for September, I thought, just for kicks, it might be fun to Google and check out if there are any other obscure events that may be tied to the month — events I need to remember.

On holidayinsights.com I found a few for September, one of which was National Pet Memorial Day. Unfortunately, it is observed on the second Sunday in September. Oops. missed that one by a few days, but thankfully, it doesn’t take a special day to remember my beloved Ruby. She was part of our family for more than 10 years and I still miss her cute little Jack Russell self. So much so, I have made it clear to the family, no more pets for me.

Then there is Wife Appreciation Day, which is September 15. I may need to put this one on hubby’s calendar.

World Gratitude Day is observed on September 21. I have so much to be grateful for, this one definitely needs to be added to my calendar.

One of the holiday insights on September 28 is Ask a Stupid Question Day. I personally think this should be added to all calendars, desktop and digital.

About Terri Cowart Frazier

Terri Frazier was born in Cleveland. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Vicksburg. She is a part-time reporter at The Vicksburg Post and is the editor of the Vicksburg Living Magazine, which has been awarded First Place by the Mississippi Press Association. She has also been the recipient of a First Place award in the MPA’s Better Newspaper Contest’s editorial division for the “Best Feature Story.”

Terri graduated from Warren Central High School and Mississippi State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations.

Prior to coming to work at The Post a little more than 10 years ago, she did some freelancing at the Jackson Free Press. But for most of her life, she enjoyed being a full-time stay at home mom.

Terri is a member of the Crawford Street United Methodist Church. She is a lifetime member of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary and is a past member of the Sampler Antique Club and Town and Country Garden Club. She is married to Dr. Walter Frazier.
