David Boch was in New York on business. • Mrs. Charles Feith and her daughter were in Memphis for the fair. • Earl Jaquith was chosen president of the Altar Boy’s Society. • Karl Kestenbaum left for LSU.

Albert Allen was in New Orleans. • R.F. Wilson died and was buried in Baton Rouge. • Mrs. Louis H. Rivers, sister of Mrs. John F. Halpin, died in New Orleans.
80 Years Ago: 1944
Glenwood Funeral Home announced its plan to formally open in Vicksburg. • Frederick Balaza, a Hungarian violinist, was featured in a concert at All Saints College.
70 Years Ago: 1954
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Angelo announced the birth of their son, Victor Miles. • Abe Young died. • Roberta Meyerkort, of Port Gibson, was in Vicksburg visiting Mrs. Fred Young.
60 Years Ago: 1964
Members of the John H. Nelson family, of Lake Providence, held a family reunion. • Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Roesch announced the birth of their daughter, Ann Claire. • Mr. and Mrs. Allen Fisher and their children were vacationing in Gulfport.
50 Years Ago: 1974
Vicksburg Theater Guild’s first production of the season, “The Owl and The Pussycat,” opened at the Bowmar Avenue Playhouse. • The Council 9 Eagles recovered from a tie and beat the Council 7 Confederates 18-12. • Leon Henry was named to the Concert Choir at Belhaven College. • The 41st Army Band of Mississippi National Guard held a concert in the Battlefield Mall.

Wilbur G. Pittman, of Utica, died. • Joseph Paul Rusche celebrated his first birthday. • Navy Seaman Eric H. Partridge completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center in Orlando.

New cell space for the Warren County Jail was ready for bids, according to architect Paul Ingram.

Tougaloo College Alumni Association met at a Washington Street location as they welcomed new members.

The prescription forgery trial of a Tallulah doctor was moved to October. • Vicksburg Warren School District parents were upset over interview tactics for gifted students in the district. • The Flashes beat Durant 56-14 in football.
