Smith, a junior running back with St. Al’s football team, rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-6 win over Clinton Christian on Sept. 20. The Flashes ended a school-record 23-game losing streak.

St. Al will play Central Hinds Friday at 7 p.m., at Farrell Stadium/Balzli Field.

Smith is the second St. Al athlete in a row to be The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week. Volleyball player Lauren Flowers won last week’s award.

Congratulations to Pierson and the other nominees, and thank you to our readers for voting.

The nominees for the Athlete of the Week award are announced each Sunday, and voting is open until midnight Tuesday. Links to the poll will be posted on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X pages, as well as vicksburgpost.com.
