Lady Vikes beat Ridgeland to clinch home playoff game

Warren Central’s volleyball team achieved a program-first Thursday with its 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15) victory over Ridgeland.

K.K. Kelly had eight kills, 16 assists, and served four aces as the Lady Vikes (20-8, 6-1 MHSAA Region 2-6A) clinched the first home playoff game in school history. They will host the No. 3 or 4 seed from Region 1-6A in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs on Oct. 8.

Melissa Herrle had nine kills and 13 assists, as well as four aces, in the win over Ridgeland. Ka’ryn Henderson also had eight of the Lady Vikes’ 38 kills. Ridgeland only had eight kills.

Keke McKay led the defense with five digs and 20 receptions.

Before they get to the playoffs, the Lady Vikes will host Neshoba Central (19-4, 7-0) Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. Warren Central can claim the Region 2-6A championship with a win.
