The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the scene of a house fire just before noon Friday that injured one person and heavily damaged the structure.

As of press time Friday, Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps had not yet released a possible cause of the fire; however, he said one person was treated on the scene for injuries related to the heavy smoke.

“The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 201 Winters Lane. Upon arrival, they found visible flames and smoke,” Stamps said. “A person suffering from smoke inhalation was treated and transported to the Merit Health (River Region) ER. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the house sustained damage.”
