Porter’s Chapel Academy’s main man had another big game, but this time he had a lot of help.

Jase Jung rushed for 285 yards and five touchdowns, and three other players combined for another 169 yards on the ground as PCA beat Tensas Academy 62-30 on Friday.

Chad Fuson finished with 72 yards and a touchdown, Auston Moore had 52 yards and a TD, and Myles Randle had 45 yards for the Eagles (4-3), who amassed 454 rushing yards as a team.

“Any time we can spread that thing around is good, and what I saw out of those guys carrying the ball was good,” PCA coach Blake Purvis said. “Myles and Chad haven’t had that many carries in high school, but the way they ran the ball was impressive. They’re growing, they’re progressing, it was good to see.”

Purvis praised not only the backs, but the line that cleared the road for them. PCA only threw seven passes in the game, one of which was a 49-yard touchdown from Jung to Fuson.

“The line played well again, across the board. Those five guys up front — Henry (Slayton), Conley (Johnston), Jackson (Blackmon), John Austin (White) and Korvin (Finch), and Hunter (Simms) as the lead blocker, continue to do it week after week,” Purvis said. “It’s truly impressive what that group is doing up front because it’s no secret what we’re doing. It doesn’t matter the look they throw at us, those guys are picking it up. They’re blocking their tails off and Jase is running hard behind them.”

Jung had his sixth game this season of at least 200 rushing yards. His five touchdowns gave him 26 for the season, which broke the school record of 25 he set in 2023.

Jung also led PCA’s defense with nine tackles and an interception. Slayton had nine tackles and a fumble recovery, and Moore had seven tackles.

PCA won for the fourth time in five games heading into next week’s homecoming game against Hillcrest.

“Wins are good. It doesn’t matter where you get them, when you get them, or who you get them against,” Purvis said. “They’re hard to come by and they’re always good to get. We’re glad to be back in the win column two weeks in a row.”
