A man who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon was transported to a local emergency room following the accident.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said the incident took place at approximately 2 p.m. at the water treatment plant on Haining Road.

“The Vicksburg Fire Department swiftly responded to a distress call at 601 Haining Road, where a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian,” Stamps said. “Upon arrival, the emergency responders provided immediate treatment to a male patient who had sustained a lower-body injury. The patient was then carefully transported to Merit Health ER for further medical attention.”

Stamps did not list a determined cause of the accident, but said the victim was believed to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
