The Strand Theatre will be hosting a screening of the annual Manhattan Short Film Festival this weekend.

Among 872 submitted films from 74 different countries, 10 short films have become finalists and will be shown around the world during a one-week period. Audiences will be able to vote by ballot on which film will receive the Best Film award, and which actor will receive the Best Actor award.

The winners will be announced Monday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.

The final 10 films come from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Italy, France, Australia, Croatia, and Ireland.

All 10 films will be eligible to be Oscar-nominated.

The event will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at The Strand Theatre at 717 Clay St. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Highway 61 Coffeehouse at 1101 Washington Street.
