Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Saturday the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) made three felony arrests this week as a result of a joint operation with the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) and a number of state agencies.
According to information from VPD, local officers were joined Thursday by WCSO deputies and agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Department of Corrections and the Alcoholic Beverage Control to conduct the joint operation throughout Vicksburg and Warren County.
VPD reported the arrests of three Vicksburg men on charges ranging from outstanding warrants to narcotics violations, including the arrests of 34-year-old Kenneth Rashad Ross on a charge of possession of controlled substances; 38-year-old Desmond King on a charge of felony possession of marijuana; and 40-year-old Ojerel Hagan, who was arrested on a warrant for forgery held by WCSO.
Martin said Saturday that deputies also logged felony arrests on Thursday that included 32-year-old Steven Eugene Sanders, of Warren County; 27-year-old Nicholas Sanders, of Claiborne County; and 24-year-old Latrell Ward, of Vicksburg.
Steven Sanders was arrested in the 7000 block of Freetown Road, at a residence where Pace said deputies had information he had been staying, for a probation violation relating to drug court.
Nicholas Sanders was taken into custody in the 100 block of Kings Row. Pace said Nicholas Sanders was wanted in Claiborne County for aggravated assault.
Ward was arrested on four counts of possession of a controlled substance after Pace said his vehicle was stopped for a driver’s license check at the intersection of Porters Chapel and Halls Ferry roads. Pace said deputies took Ward into custody after noticing the “pungent” smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a felony amount of marijuana, as well as of methamphetamines, cocaine and fentanyl.
Pace said the joint operation was a success in its efforts to focus on outstanding warrants, narcotics and other wanted individuals, adding Thursday’s collaboration would not be the last of its kind.
