Will Bates won the Spooky Sprint 5K overall run championship on Oct. 5. The Warren Central junior had a time of 19 minutes, 17 seconds.

The Spooky Sprint 5K was the first of two big running events scheduled in Vicksburg on back-to-back weekends in October. The Over the River Run 5-mile race walk is this Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street.

The entry fees are $35 for the 5-mile race and $20 for the 1-mile fun run before Saturday. The race day fee for the 5-mile race will be $40.
