Cases involving six defendants were heard before Judge M. James Chaney in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Vicksburg Thursday.
Derrick Easter: Easter, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in connection with an altercation on Jefferson Street in 2019 in which shots were fired, was indicted in May 2020, and he has been in custody since that time. Easter faced a maximum sentence of 20 years and a $10,000 fine. The prosecution was represented by Liem Walker. Walker recommended the maximum sentence of five years served and the remainder suspended plus fines, court fees and restitution imposed, a sentence which was imposed by Chaney Thursday.
Kory Grayer: Grayer’s bond was revoked Thursday. He currently faces multiple charges and was sentenced to serve one year for parole violation regarding previous charges. Grayer was most recently arrested in August on charges of sale of methamphetamine; trafficking cocaine; trafficking methamphetamine; trafficking MDMA; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of a stolen firearm; and seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Amy Bradshaw: Branshaw faced charges of uttering a forgery from a September 2020 arrest. She faces fees and fines from earlier charges, which have not been paid. This case was originally in drug court, but has been turned over to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Bradshaw was sentenced to seven years, with three years to be served and four years suspended. Bradshaw was also ordered to pay outstanding fines and fees.
Laquantia Levi Branch III: Branch faced revocation of parole charges. He currently has outstanding fines that have not been paid. He was given a three-year suspended sentence, ordered to pay outstanding fines of $685 and his parole was turned over to authorities in Houston, where he lives and works.
Muriel Holmes: Holmes, who faced sentencing on prior charges in 2017, was ordered to pay outstanding fines. The fines originally were assessed at $26,384. Holmes currently owes $23,465 in restitution to Trustmark Bank. Because Holmes violated terms of her post-release agreement by failing to pay her fines, she was given a five-year suspended sentence and ordered to pay outstanding fines.
Proctor Shannone Jordan: Jordan pleaded guilty to felony marijuana possession and grand larceny in 2017. Although he was ordered to pay fines in excess of $5,000 and regularly report to a parole officer, he had not met with his parole officer since 2021 and had not paid outstanding fines. Chaney ordered Jordan to serve a suspended sentence totaling eight years.
