A weekly recap of performances by college football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:
• Southern University kicker Joshua Griffin (Warren Central) kicked a game-winning 34-yard field goal in overtime in a 22-19 victory against Texas Southern. Griffin was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, with makes from 26, 40 and 34 yards; 1-for-1 on PATs; and had one touchback on six kickoffs. He also had one solo tackle.
• West Alabama defensive back Lamar Gray (Warren Central) had four solo tackles in a 26-0 win against Mississippi College.
• Nicholls defensive back Laurence Sullivan Jr. (Vicksburg High) had four solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass breakup in a 55-10 loss to Incarnate Word.
• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) was 2-for-2 on field goals and 6-for-7 on PATs in a 54-17 rout of Mississippi Valley State. Gilliam made his field goals from 24 and 32 yards.
• Delta State tight end Carter Coullard (Briarfield Academy) caught one pass for 22 yards in a 40-28 loss to West Florida.
• Hinds Community College defensive back Kearris Gilliam (Vicksburg High) had two solo tackles, one interception and one pass breakup in a 17-16 upset of No. 12 Jones College.
• Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College running back Trey Hall (Warren Central) had 95 total yards — 58 rushing and 37 receiving — in a 24-20 loss to East Central Community College. Hall had 14 rushing attempts and caught six passes.
• Gulf Coast wide receiver Tyler Henderson (Vicksburg High) caught five passes for 31 yards in the loss to East Central.
• East Mississippi Community College offensive lineman Shar’dez Taylor (Vicksburg High) started at tackle and helped the Lions gain 485 total yards in a 49-21 victory over Northeast Mississippi.
• Copiah-Lincoln linebacker Rakeem Davis (Port Gibson) assisted on two tackles in a 24-17 win against Pearl River.
• Edmonton Elks linebacker Nick Anderson (Vicksburg High) had seven tackles and one sack in a 23-18 victory over Calgary. Anderson ranks second in the Canadian Football League with 101 tackles.
• New England Patriots offensive lineman Ben Brown (St. Aloysius) got his first NFL start at center in Sunday’s 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans.
