Third suspect arrested for Speed Street shooting

A third suspect in the Oct. 1 shooting that injured one person near the intersection of Speed and Drummond streets is behind bars.

According to information from the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD), 23-year-old Corey Wilson appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday on a charge of drive-by shooting. Judge Angela Carpenter set Wilson’s bond at $25,000 and bound him over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Just days after the shooting, 29-year-old Nicholas Clay turned himself in to VPD on Oct. 3. He was charged with aggravated assault and bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury on a $50,000 bond by Vicksburg Municipal Court Judge Penny Lawson.

On Oct. 11, 24-year-old Thomas Stuart turned himself in to VPD after being sought on a warrant for tampering with physical evidence related to the shooting. Thomas received a $30,000 bond and was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Lawson.

The incident was the second shooting in three days in the 1100 block of Speed Street and both incidents have been suspected to have been targeting a home at 1107 Speed Street.
