After what law enforcement called a “brief standoff” last week at an apartment complex in Tallulah, deputies with the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office (MPSO) arrested a suspect in a September homicide.
According to information from MPSO, deputies working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Louisiana State Police and the Tallulah Police Department arrested Armone Wesley, of Talulah, in connection with the September 21 shooting death of 20-year-old Clayton Crye Jr., also of Tallulah.
MPSO said Wesley was taken into custody Wednesday, Oct. 16, following the standoff at an apartment complex where he is believed to have been staying with an acquaintance and where firearms were also recovered.
Wesley was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder; three counts of possession of a firearm; illegal use of a weapon; and resisting arrest. He is being held without bond at the Madison Parish Jail.
Madison Parish Sheriff Chad Ezell said more arrests are expected in the case.
“We will continue to do whatever we can to make sure that any person who illegally, or carelessly shoots a weapon in Madison Parish will end up in jail,” MPSO said in a post to social media. “These people that are carelessly shooting these guns are endangering everyone with no regard to life or property and it’s got to stop.”
