By the numbers: VPD crime stats for Aug. 24-Sept. 24

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen during its regular meeting Monday was presented with crime statistics from the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) for Aug. 24-Sept. 24.

According to the VPD, 3,384 calls and 886 reports were logged; 318 arrests were made; 249 warrants, and 161 citations, and 17 warnings, were issued; seven DUIs were recorded.

Crime categories for the month included:

  • *No instances of murder, manslaughter or rape
  • *One robbery, up from none the prior month
  • *Six aggravated assaults, up from two the prior month
  • *Five business burglaries, up from four the previous month
  • *Three residential burglaries, down from seven
  • *18 auto burglaries, down from 22, including five of secured vehicles (up from three) and four of unsecured vehicles (down from eight) the previous month
  • *Four instances of auto thefts, up from five in the prior month
  • *20 instances of domestic violence, down from 27 the previous month.

There have been no instances of carjackings or kidnappings, nor were any recorded the previous month.Â
