Absentee voting deadline Saturday; 2,118 absentee ballots returned in Warren County as of Monday

Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson reported that as of Monday, the Statewide Election Management System reported a total of 137,686 absentee ballots had been requested in the state.

The requested total reflects the number of Mississippi voters who have requested an absentee ballot through their local Circuit Clerk’s office.

County Circuit Clerk’s offices have sent out 136,372 absentee ballots and 119,818 completed absentee ballots have been received in the state for the 2024 November General Election. The sent total reflects the number of absentee ballots sent to voters from Circuit Clerk offices. The received total reflects the number of completed absentee ballots returned to Circuit Clerk offices.

As of Monday, Oct. 28, the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office had 2,118 absentee ballot requests and had sent 2,111 absentee ballots. They have received 1,896 ballots back, leaving 222 yet to be returned.

Those numbers are up from the Monday, Oct. 21 report, which showed the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office had 1,382 absentee ballot requests and had sent 1,373 absentee ballots. As of the Oct. 21 update, they had received 1,147 ballots back, leaving 235 yet to be returned.

The Circuit Clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov.2 for in-person absentee voting or to hand out absentee ballots to be returned later. Warren County voters can come into the courthouse, 1009 Cherry St., and go to the Circuit Clerk’s office to cast their ballot on those dates.

The in-person absentee voting deadline is Saturday, Nov. 2. All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 5.

Watson said a sample ballot can be accessed on the Secretary of State’s website, sos.ms.gov.

Mississippians who have requested an absentee ballot may track their ballot using the My Election Day ballot tracker. Watson said the resolution board could begin processing absentee ballots at 7 a.m. on Election Day when the polls open. County election officials can tabulate ballots at the closing of the polls on Election Day at 7 p.m.
