MPSO makes second arrest in September homicide

The Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office (MPSO), working in conjunction with the Tallulah Police Department (TPD), has made a second arrest in the Sept. 21 shooting death of a Tallulah man.

According to information from MPSO, the joint investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Tallulah resident Darrel Dewayne Hester for his alleged involvement in the shooting that killed 20-year-old Clayton Crye Jr., also of Tallulah.

Hester was taken into custody without incident at a residence on Florida Street in Tallulah after a warrant was issued by the Louisiana State Police (LSP). Hester is charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

MPSO deputies last week, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service, LSP and TPD, arrested Armone Wesley, of Talulah, in connection with the shooting. Wesley was charged with second-degree murder; three counts of possession of a firearm; illegal use of a weapon; and resisting arrest.

Both suspects are being held at the Madison Parish Jail.

Madison Parish Sheriff Chad Ezell said more arrests in connection with the case are expected.
