Voting is open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are football players Henry Slayton (Porter’s Chapel), Jonah Artman (Warren Central) and Carson Smith (St. Aloysius), and cross country runner Casey Brown (Vicksburg High).

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Jonah Artman, a junior kicker with Warren Central’s football team, kicked two field goals in a 19-7 win over Neshoba Central on Oct. 25 and set Warren County’s career record for most field goals with 24.

Casey Brown, a sophomore cross country runner for Vicksburg High, finished 13th in the MHSAA Region 2-6A meet on Oct. 24, with a time of 20:40.

Carson Smith, a senior quarterback with St. Aloysius’ football team, threw two touchdown passes in a 27-12 loss to Winston Academy on Oct. 25.

Henry Slayton, a senior linebacker with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s football team, had five tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, and returned a fumble 76 yards for a touchdown in a 49-38 loss to Prairie View on Oct. 25.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
