St. Aloysius was short-handed for its boys basketball season opener, but it hardly made a difference.

Carson Gleese had a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Flashes steamrolled the Jackson Victors 65-37 on Monday.

Anthony McCloud added 17 points, seven rebounds and six steals for the Flashes, and Carson Henderson scored 14 points.

With its football team still alive in the MAIS Class 5A playoffs, St. Al only has six varsity players and four junior high players available for its first two games this week — Monday against the Victors, and Tuesday at Madison-St. Joseph.

Seven players scored in the win against the Victors. In addition to the Flashes’ Big Three, Carter Henderson had six points and six rebounds, Tre Lee and Lanier Lambiotte scored five points each, and Patrick Southerland scored one point.

“I’m extremely proud of the effort from our guys, especially how they shared the ball and played defense,” St. Al coach Walter Hallberg said. “We had 18 assists and 13 steals. Not a bad way to start the year.”
