Hinds finished its season with a 2-7 overall record, and 2-5 in the South Division.

Hinds held the ball for 41 minutes Thursday, but Gulf Coast used a steady stream of big plays to turn the game into a blowout.

Gulf Coast had scoring plays of 76, 63, 44 and 21 yards, with six scoring drives taking less than three minutes.

The Bulldogs also got a 64-yard kickoff return by Brandon Hines to set up Hall’s 21-yard touchdown, which was the start of a run of 49 unanswered points. Shadrick Toodle had a 34-yard fumble return touchdown on the ensuing kickoff to put Gulf Coast ahead 20-14.

“The one thing that stands out were the big plays in the first half,” Gulf Coast coach Jack Wright said. “There were some long passes, long runs, some chunk plays that wound up in the end zone. That was the difference in the score.”

Hall scored on runs of 21, 3 and 63 yards.

Vicksburg High alum Tyler Henderson caught three passes for 57 yards for Gulf Coast, and Warren Central’s Zack Evans had one catch for 14 yards.

Varnes completed 13 of 14 passes for 259 yards in the first half, and finished 17-of-25 for 303 yards.
