How They Did is a weekly recap of performances by college and pro football players from Vicksburg-area high schools:
• Southern University kicker Joshua Griffin (Warren Central) kicked two field goals from 35 and 32 yards, went 1-for-2 on PATs, and had one touchback on six kickoffs in a 25-20 victory over Alabama A&M. Griffin also missed a 48-yard field goal attempt.
• Alabama State kicker Brandon Gilliam (Warren Central) was 3-for-3 on PAT attempts and had one touchback on four kickoffs in a 21-17 win over Alcorn State. Gilliam missed his only field goal attempt, from 38 yards.
• Mississippi Valley State running back Malik Montgomery (Vicksburg High) had one special teams tackle in a 17-16 loss to Prairie View A&M.
• Nicholls cornerback Laurence Sullivan, Jr. (Vicksburg High) started but did not have a tackle in a 28-12 loss to Stephen F. Austin.
• West Alabama linebacker Lamar Gray (Warren Central) had five total tackles and two pass breakups in a 17-14 win over North Greenville.
• South Alabama offensive lineman Reed Buys (Warren Central) started at guard and helped the Jaguars total 458 yards in a 34-30 loss to Georgia Southern.
• Bluefield University offensive lineman Jehari Riley (Vicksburg High) started at right tackle and helped the Rams gain more than 400 yards of total offense in a 24-16 loss to Reinhardt University.
• Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College running back Trey Hall (Warren Central) carried the ball six times for 95 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-14 blowout win against Hinds Community College.
• Gulf Coast wide receiver Tyler Henderson (Vicksburg High) caught three passes for 57 yards in the big win over Hinds.
• Gulf Coast wide receiver Zack Evans (Warren Central) had one reception for 14 yards against Hinds.
• Hinds Community College defensive back Kearris Gilliam (Vicksburg High) had three total tackles and one pass breakup for Hinds in its loss to Gulf Coast.
• Hinds Community College offensive lineman Jerald Woods (Warren Central) started at tackle and helped the Eagles control the ball for 41 minutes against Gulf Coast.
• Copiah-Lincoln Community College linebacker Rakeem Davis (Port Gibson) assisted on one tackle in a 44-14 rout of Northeast Mississippi.
• Coahoma Community College linebacker Logan Myles (Warren Central) had two solo tackles and one tackle for loss in a 30-15 loss to Mississippi Delta.
• East Central Community College defensive lineman Demarcus Jones (Warren Central) had one solo tackle in a 49-13 win over Southwest Mississippi.
• New England Patriots offensive lineman Ben Brown (St. Aloysius) started at center in a 20-17 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans.
