Warren Central soccer ties Germantown

Warren Central’s and Germantown’s boys soccer teams traded early goals, and then shared a moral victory Tuesday night.

After Germantown scored less than three minutes into the game, Warren Central’s Nick Lee got the equalizer in the 16th minute. Neither team found the net again, and the game wound up in a 1-1 tie.

Duke Esparza assisted on Lee’s goal.

Germantown has a 21-8 advantage in overall shots, and had 14 shots on goal compared to only three for the Vikings (1-0-1). WC keeper Jamarian Shelly made 13 saves, however, and kept a clean sheet for the last 78 minutes.

In the girls’ half of the varsity doubleheader, Germantown beat Warren Central 6-0.

Warren Central will play again Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Viking Stadium, against St. Andrew’s.
