The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is searching for two Vicksburg men wanted for aggravated assault after police said they opened fire on each other in broad daylight Friday morning at a downtown gas station.

Just after 11 a.m., multiple police units were on the scene at the Fastway gas station on the corner of Cherry and Clay streets, where officers worked to document the position of shell casing left from the firing of multiple gunshots.

Chief of Police Penny Jones said VPD is actively searching for 23-year-old Anthony Dwayne Jackson Jr. and 21-year-old Derrius Darden in connection with the incident.

Jones said it is believed the gunfire began following an argument at the service station, resulting in both men opening fire. Jones said no one was injured during the incident; however, one vehicle and two buildings were struck by gunfire.

VPD said both men are considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of either suspect is asked to call VPD Investigator Lionel Johnson at 601-636-2511 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
