Mary Philbin was seen in “The Rose of Parish” at the Alamo Theater. • The Rev. Felix Hill, a former Methodist pastor in Vicksburg, was assigned to Memphis.

The Charles H. West, a new government snagboat, reached port. • Hollandale defeated Vicksburg High School by a score of 13-0.

Mrs. Laura Herring died. • Lt. Anna Elizabeth Long, with the Army Signal Corps, was visiting her parents in Delta.
70 YEARS AGO: 1954
Howard Stout died. • Services were held for Phillip Brown. • The Vicksburg Greenies lost 14-6 to Greenwood.

Julius Colenburg died. • Services were held for Mrs. Mattie Hutson of Lake Providence, Louisiana.

Mayor Nat Bullard signed a proclamation setting the week of Nov. 11-17 as Youth Appreciation Week.

A new book, “For All the Saints,” was written by Mary Ellen Turner and chronicled the history of All Saints Episcopal School from 1908-1983.

Municipal Court Judge Vicki Roach Barnes defeated incumbent Chancery Court Judge Gerald Braddock by 21 votes. • Eleanor Cathron died at age 102.

Vicksburg Police Department shut down Thames Autoplex, Inc. as part of an identity theft investigation.

Vicksburg resident Daryl Hollingsworth was leading the charge in bringing new businesses to downtown Vicksburg.
